Exclusion zones for small vessels placed on Astrolabe Reef in the BOP to allow salvage of the Rena wreck allowed prolific restoration of exploited fish, until the ban was lifted in April of this year. Now you cannot find fish or rock lonster there anymore!! Classic demonstration of the ease with which restored ecisystems are plundered when fishing is allowed back in.
