Report Poaching
All marine life in Taputeranga Marine Reserve is fully protected and there are significant penalties under law for poaching. This includes taking any plant or animal material, living or dead below mean high water springs (approximately highest high tide line, MHWS). It can include all such organisms in the intertidal zone, and includes fish or plants in tidal rock pools, or attached to reefs above the water line below.
Report all incidents of apparent poaching to the DOC HOTline 0800 362 468. Find out more about the rules and regulation and download the Taputeranga Marine Reserve Brochure from the Department of Conservation.
